What we collect
Nothing. GroovePeek does not collect, store, or transmit any user data of any kind.
Audio
GroovePeek captures the audio stream from the active browser tab solely to analyze its tempo. The audio is processed in memory, used to compute a BPM reading, and then discarded. It is never recorded, saved to disk, or sent anywhere outside your device.
Local storage
The only data stored locally is your theme preference (light or dark mode). This is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
Permissions
GroovePeek requests the following browser permissions:
- Tab audio capture — to access the audio stream from the tab you are listening to
- Offscreen processing — to run audio analysis in the background without interrupting your browser
- Storage — to remember your theme preference between sessions
- Tabs — to identify which tab is playing music and to show the song title in the popup
Third parties
GroovePeek does not use any third-party analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with or sold to any third party.
Remote code
GroovePeek does not load or execute any remote code. All functionality is bundled locally within the extension.
